Professional basketball player and poker enthusiast
Andras is a 23-year-old from Hungary who is used to juggling many activities at once: studying at university, playing basketball at professional level and also playing poker, which is his main hobby.more
Andras has been playing poker for 6-7 years which he does in his spare time while studying at university in Hungary. His greatest interest and what he would like to work with is sport, which he is studying at a university in Debrecen, Hungary’s second biggest city, where he also plays for the university’s basketball team. Andras has also played basketball in Hungary’s first division, and is currently playing in the second division.
How did you first find your way to Paf?
I found Paf through a friend who recommended it. My friend had played at a larger gaming company before and wanted to find a smaller one to play with. He found Paf and then recommended it to me.
Andras had only been playing at Paf for three weeks when he won his first qualifying package, for the GSOP Marbella, so he was a little surprised when he realized he had won one. GSOP is his first major event since he usually plays in smaller tournaments in Austria, Croatia or Slovakia which he hopes he will have more time for during the summer.
Do you have any superstitions about good luck charms or other rituals?
No, I don’t have any superstitions like having a lucky shirt or anything like that. I think the result is entirely a matter of your skill at poker.
I also ask Andras how he keeps himself motivated when his chips are low and nothing seems to be working. His answer is that he tries to think positively, and that he focuses on the fact he has managed to make it to the tournament and is happy to be there. Andras mostly plays poker online so he tries to focus on enjoying having won the package for GSOP Live in Marbella.
As you know, all Paf’s profits go to good causes, what do you think about that?
I’ve read a little about that, and I think it is a good idea. It feels good to know the money is going to good causes and it’s one of the reasons I think Paf is a good gaming company.
After GSOP, Andras and a friend will be going to Madrid to watch football. Because, as you’ve probably gathered, it’s not just basketball he’s passionate about, it’s all sport.
